Should I use a local travel agency to book a Last Minute Cruise from Tampa?

I had a discussion with Susan Zoller, the owner of Cruise World in Tampa, http://www.cruiseworld.com/cruiseworldcom_-_carnival_-_disney_-_royal_caribbean_-_princess_cruise_lines.htm. She pointed out that travel agencies like hers have the ability to provide lower costs than you will find by working directly with the cruise lines. This is because agencies like Cruise World have access to much more information and pricing than an individual would ever have. And, of course, in planning a cruise, like all things, information is power! So, before you call a cruise line to plan last minute travel from Tampa or anywhere, give a travel agent that specializes in cruises a call -- you have nothing to lose and potentially big savings to gain.

I have booked both ways. I prefer booking right through the cruise line and find it is usually cheaper

I always use VacationsToGo.com for last minute cruise deals. You can view all of the last minute deals on the website. All you have to do is provide your email address to register. Or you can call them directly. They have access to all of the cruise lines. I have worked with Joey Kelly and Spike. Both are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the cruise industry. Travel agents tend to charge a transaction fee.

Only if you want to save money. I book last minute cruises all the time from Tampa and Port Canaveral. I book cruises on WED for cruises departing on THUR. If you book any cruise on an automated web site you loose out on extra added value features.
